‘Abide’ Is a Haunting Stop-Motion Horror Game That Has a Few Days Left to Hit Its Kickstarter Goal, and It’s Time to Board the Bandwagon

3 min read

Settle in, class! We're talking about the latest incredible project from Talha and Jack Co., a small but mighty indie dev squad best known for 2024's Scottish-centric action adventure romp, Judero, and 2025's insane strategy/puzzle/platformer hybrid fever dream, Mashina. Now, the team's ambitions reside within a Kickstarter for their upcoming psychological stop-motion horror game, ABIDE. As of this writing, the Kickstarter is less than $1,000 away from hitting its $34,000 goal with a few days left until the campaign's end. Rather than scream at everyone to support it immediately (though you should), I'm going to calmly explain why ABIDE deserves your attention and support!

Kicking 'ABIDE's Kickstarter Into High Gear -- Exhibit A: The Trailer

Come on. Really, I could end the article here and be content. But instead, let's talk through it so you can open that e-wallet. For the uninitiated, I'm what you would call a "Horror Game Ghoul." I've played everything from Silent Hill all the way down to Crow Country. In all my years playing video games, I've never seen something that so perfectly ticks every box for me. Psychological horror? Check. High-production stop-motion visuals? Damn right! A messed-up mystery to uncover? Day. One. If you only read this article without clicking that Kickstarter link up there to investigate further, here's an excerpt straight from the campaign:

"A peaceful retreat where people go to get better. A place for people to air their demons. ABIDE is a first person horror game using prosthetic gore effects, stop motion and dolls scanned into 3d models."

In ABIDE, you're investigating the St Boniface retreat: building relationships with your fellow, er... guests during the day, and skulking around to discover their sordid secrets at night. There's an issue, however. No one is supposed to be leaving their rooms once curfew is called. Naturally, you're going to change that as an intrusive know-it-all, aren't you? You know what they say about rules, after all! ...Although, I guess the rules aren't supposed to break you.

Exhibit B: True Craftsmanship In The Indie Arts

"This is our third stop motion game as a studio. We are continuing to push what we can do with stop motion and interactivity. ABIDE has our most detailed and expressive models so far, with magnetised, swappable parts, robust armatures and experiments with new materials."

Look, I'll come out and admit it: I'm a sucker for projects like this. Not only is it just a kick-ass concept, but how could I ever not fight for a labor of love like ABIDE? Stop-motion is already a hellish ordeal to achieve correctly -- so whenever it appears? I'm usually there. I was there for Harold Halibut, and I'm here for ABIDE. It's a passion project by a dev team that's proven itself twice, and if what they've presented to everyone aligns with its lofty ambitions? They'll knock it out of the park a third time!

That's my pitch! Again, here's the official ABIDE Kickstarter page in case I've successfully convinced you to throw in for it! Since Glizzy's a proud champion of indie gaming, it would be criminal to let this one potentially slip past you!
