Oscar Meyer Ain’t the Only Hotdog You Can Get From Amazon Now – Glizzy Has Entered the Chat

7 min read

Franks. Wieners. Mystery Meat. Snag on the barbie. Tons of fantastic names for one of the most delicious and succulent pieces of food that you can slam into your mouth. But as y'all know, Glizzy is the name that we've gone with. It's silly, rolls off the tongue with ease, and is synonymous with virality and wackiness. I've been here since the start, and I would have never imagined that it would culminate in something as cool as this.

Glizzy is aiming for "intentionality" over "slop" by doing things this way. Rather than having to wade through a shocking amount of Furry Sex with Hitler titles to find your new favorite indie obsession, the Glizzy Storefront on Amazon does the hard work for you. Curated, bi-monthly/quarterly launches for unique games that deserve your attention, rather than AI-generated slop content that seems to plug up the front pages of nearly every gaming marketplace nowadays. The future is no, old man, and you've gotta get with the times.

A Hot Dog at the Ballpark Beats Roast Beef at the Ritz

While we officially broke the news back in December about working with The Big Bezos, things have finally started to fall into place. But regardless of how long it took for things to get off the ground, we're rolling on indefinitely, just like the hot dogs on the roller grill at your local convenience store. The thing that separates us from them, though? We don't get old. We don't dry out. Glizzy is here to deliver hand-picked, specialized indie games that are niche, neat, and ready to be savored.

Rather than accepting a game and saying "GLHF, hope the algorithm is kind to you", Glizzy tries to do things differently. Has Steam, Epic Games, or anywhere else recommended Sliding Hero to you? What about Unaccessible? No? Wow, what a surprise. Maybe it's because these games are genuine hand-crafted gems that deserve your attention, rather than the type of game that is going to bring a launcher a ton of money. Instead, we're pushing for games that DESERVE your time and attention, rather than trend-chasing the latest thing.

Why Curated Drops, Though?

That's a very good, very valid question! It's something that may make some scratch their heads, and others wonder what we're smoking. I promise it's none of the good shit, it's mainly just a group of over-caffinated weirdos that have gotten together to put something cool together. There's nothing generic about Glizzy - our branding is meant to be bold and in-your-face about it. Steam is sterile, Epic Games is a few lovely shades of gray, and that's about it. We want to catch your eye, not only with our name and our style, but with the games that we're putting out there.

So, what better way to catch attention than curated drops? It brings the limelight to a specific section of developers on the indie spectrum. 8 to 10 games at a time, Glizzy is looking to bring attention to indies that deserve that extra boost that other storefronts aren't willing to. Each game is tested, played, and given the thumbs-up by the small squad of folks who are behind the scenes at the Hot Dog Place. Instant access, indie-only gaming. That's what we love to hear.

What Makes a Glizzy Game Special?

As much as I like to jest, every game that is created is special. It takes a genuine amount of talent to create something in this interactive field, regardless of whether it's the newest Assassin's Creed game or a solo-developed passion project. But, along the way, you see one thing that happens over and over again. A PR rep reaches out to a well-established gaming site to request coverage. Unfortunately, traffic won't pour in for a smaller game the way the Skibidi Toilet Call of Duty 7 skin pack will. That's why Glizzy wants to help smaller creators, smaller teams, and passionate developers get their games out there. Not every creator can afford thousands, if even hundreds of dollars in marketing. It's hard to make your games known, especially with so many of them being released.

Glizzy is a two-member team, alongside two writers. We want to do whatever we possibly can to help any indie developer spread the word. While we may not be able to promote every single game as much as it pains us, we do what we can. We're actively accepting submissions for the next wave of Glizzy drops. And while our Amazon-supported Indie Developer Showcase is filled up, we want to talk to YOU about our future showcases. Plenty are coming down the pipeline, so if you can't get in now? Keep in touch.

Wait, so How Do I Play My Glizzy Games?

Glizzy handles all the technical BS. We handle all of the hullabaloo, so eager developers can get their games on a marketplace that genuinely cares about them. Glizzy itself is a web app, not a standalone launcher, so you don't need to install YET ANOTHER LAUNCHER to play your games. Use the Glizzy web app to redeem your key, access your library, and download your game. That's it. You can still buy games directly from the Glizzy webpage, but the main flow is going to be going through Amazon at this point in time. Lockie and Jack are working on a way to simplify everything, so hang tight with us, y'all. We got you.

Buy it, download it, play it. Simple enough, right? Glizzy has built the packaging, encryption, and license protection systems ourselves. We want the platform to support indie devs without forcing them into a ton of technical integration. And as you may have noticed, all of the games that we offer are unique. There are no two games that are similar, much like the latest addition to the Glizzy lineup (and part of the second drop), Blood High. And yes, I can confirm that the game is as sick as it looks.

Yes, We Are Aware That We Are a Double-Headed Hotdog With Chicken Legs. That’s Not an Accident.

We want Glizzy to be a great place for indie developers, indie lovers, and indie fans to feel right at home. We want to be weird. It's okay to be wacky. That's our whole thing, and if we break away from that? Call us out on it. Partnering with The Big A is a great first step toward making the lives of indie fans all the more phenomenal. I mean, you're quick to get a Glizzy at the game, so why not snag a Glizzy from the Amazon storefront, you dig?

We didn't sell our souls to make this happen. Quite the opposite; we do whatever we can to help spread the good word about sick-ass indie games as much as possible. But with the SEO-driven search slop that comes up on our feeds every day, it's good to know how the sausage is made. Transparency, honesty, and just being good-ass dudes are our main mantras, and I hope that Glizzy brings you as much joy as it's brought us.

So, do yourself a solid. Check out 8-Bit Adventures 2, The Ghost of Nichishima - Yurei, Kritter: Defend Together, The Phantom Fellows, Sliding Hero, Summa Expeditions, Unaccessible, and Under Par Golf Architect. Every one of these titles is worth your time, your effort, and most importantly, your attention.
